Chop Chop!!

This is an idea i had a while ago but didn't have the money for. So instead I did it for my sister and our friend. What I did was buy 2 sweaters (same size and style, only difference being the colour), cut them in half the exact same way, then sew them to the other's other half. I had to be careful so that I would leave the drawstring in tact and still have it work. Here are the pictures of the final product.

Challenge complete!

Here they are, the pictures you've all been waiting for! :)

In this first picture you see everything (except for the swimsuit and cover, I'll put those pictures up later). From left to right, first is Chris wearing the vest and necktie. Next to him is Cara, wearing dress C and the jacket. Beside Cara is myself, wearing dress D and the jacket. In front of me is Jonathan wearing the vest and bow tie. Then there is the beautiful bride. Beside her is Juli, wear a dress she bought :( and a jacket I made. It was basically the same pattern but I had to alter it to change the size, and I also finished the end of the sleeve differently. Beside Juli is Christina in dress B with the jacket. And finally, there is Anngie in dress A and the jacket. Don't we all look amazing?

This picture and the one that follows are of the beautiful bride Victoria and her junior bridesmaids plus Juli.

Here is a picture of the happy couple and their nieces and nephews (that were able to attend the wedding).

And I just really liked this picture. Doesn't Anngie look like a model? <3

Just about done!!!!! :)

I know it's passed the deadline but that's why I set the deadline a week before it actually was. I am finished everything except for the last few things for my cousin's dress because I need to do a fitting but she doesn't get here until tomorrow afternoon. Aside from that, here is a list of the things I've finished:
- 3 white jackets
- 3 yellow dresses
- 2 vests
- 1 bow tie
- 1 necktie
- 2-piece swimsuit
- 1 swimsuit cover
I'll be posting lots of pictures from the wedding on Sunday. Guess you'll have to wait till then ;) .

WOOT!!!

I am on schedule!!!! Also, I now have three sewing machines in my room <3. I have completely finished the swimsuit and cover, as well as the jackets. :D I have the four bodices waiting for the skirts which should be done by the end of the week. I normally use Sundays as a day off but I felt like doing a bit of sewing so I made the bow tie. This make 7/14 done (not counting the 4 half done dresses). Here's a picture of the bow tie.

Be prepared!!

I'm so glad then when I made my timeline for getting thing done that I left lots of free days because me challenge has just gotten bigger. I am now making one more dress and jacket. To add to the (almost non-existent because I am so awesome) stress, both of my sewing machines are in the shop because the timing is off on both of them. Luckily, my grandma's sewing machine is amazing and I get to use it until mine are fixed.

As for getting things done, I was just about done the second part of the swimsuit. While I don't have a sewing machine I am cutting out all the pieces for everything I'm making so I know how much I still need to make the 4th dress and jacket.

Wish me luck!

Here are some pictures of me and a couple friends at a dance. Everything you can see that I am wearing (other than the shoes) I made. It cost me about $60 and 20 hours to make. Let me know what you thing!!!

Just a note, I am planning on making a bunch of denim purses ranging from $10 to $30 (plus shipping if needed) so if you want one, let me know and you can even give me some ideas to personalize it just for you!!

Simply adorable!!

Here is a dress that was simple to make. The fabric for it already had the elastic around the bodice which made the fabric more expensive but it made the making of the dress simple. All I had to do was put a seem in the side and ad sleeves. No pattern needed. :) The sleeves have elastic in them that I added to give them a cute little gather. Isn't the dress just adorable!!

Summer fun!

I haven't blogged in a while so I have a few things lined up but I just had to put this one first. I finish my swimsuit top today and it is so cute!! The original pattern had it as a bikini top so I did a bit of altering. I added the skirt like part as well as the little bit in the front to hide the cleavage. Making it took about $20 (plus the pattern) and 6 hours. It just slips over your head and hooks in the back. :)

A little bit of fun.

Anything can come from a pile of scrap fabric. This is one of my favorite creations. I didn't use a pattern but I did use one of my purses as a guide.

The straps are made from braided strips of denim.

The lining is made from part of an old ninja costume that we found in a thrift store. One side as a zipper pocket, the other has a cellphone/Mp3 player pocket.

The outer fabric is left over from a dress I made. Plus to add a but of fun, I added iron-on letters to spell my sister's nick name (the purse was for her).

Ta-dah!!! A master piece!!

Old to new(ish)!! :)

While I was at my grandma's house for easter, she gave me the sewing machine she bought because she liked her old one better. Now I have one that is all mine. :)

Below are pictures of my (mom's) old sewing machine. It is super heavy and a pain to carry. Also, it didn't have an on/off switch for the foot pedal, it only had one for the light.

Below are pictures of my somewhat new sewing machine. It has a handle and it isn't too heavy either. It also has an on/off switch. The switches for changing the stitch options are simpler as well.

My first sale!!

:P I am super excited to announce my first sale!!!! I forgot to take pictures before mailing it though. I'll post some when I get them. My sale was a designed t-shirt. It took forever to come up with the design but it is gorgeous (even if I do say so myself)!!

From old pajamas to the cat's pajamas!!

Being in a big family, there are a lot of hand-me-downs in clothing. One of the biggest problems with this is that something that may look great on one person isn't always going to look nice on someone else. This is especially true when is comes to people with different body types. This is where altering clothing becomes both hand and fun. Taking something old and making it new is a great skill.

The other day I noticed my little sister wearing an old tank top that belonged to my older sister. The neckline was too low in the back and it looked a little strange. After about 10 minutes of convincing her, she let me take my sewing machine to it. With a bit of leftover lace from the red skirt, after twenty minutes, it looked much better on her. Here is a picture of the back after I altered it.

Doodling at midnight.

I love to doodle. Last night I couldn't sleep so I decided to do some doodling. I have about a dozen tank tops so I picked a couple to spice up a bit. While drawing on the first one, my little sister was laughing at me because I kept using random items to make the design. I used a frisbee, a pencil case, a one hole punch, the lid for my moisturizer, a ruler, and a tape dispenser. I'll leave it up to your imagination on how they all fit together. ;)

This one I did all by hand. The tulip is my favorite flower so it's one of my favorite things to doodle.

Let me know what you think!!
